SUMMARY: - The provider specialist is responsible for maintaining
control of the provider database in all aspects. - - Handles all
provider-related claims issues with internal and external
customers, processes electronic claims with provider-related
problems, contacts providers when necessary and handles other
provider information issues. - Responsible for obtaining W-9s, as
well as recognizing, researching and resolving any discrepancies
noted. - System generated provider reports are monitored and worked
daily. - - - ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may
be assigned as necessary.):
- Maintain provider database; adding new entries, making changes
to provider information.
- Process incoming provider correspondence.
- Process electronic claims in a special provider mailbox.
- Research provider checks returned by post office.
- Make Excel spreadsheets from provider information.
- Handle provider-related problems that are referred to the unit
from the claims departments.
- Make and receive phone calls to and from providers.
- Send correspondence to providers via mail, email or fax.
- Review and work a variety of reports, i.e. a report on
providers with invalid zip codes.
- All duties above need to be performed with accuracy and
speed.
- Actively participate in cross training to maximize team
efficiency and maintain or exceed service standards.
- Must understand the broad strategic concept of our business and
link these to the day-to-day business functions of other processing
areas, keeping in mind compliance process dates.
- Arrive to work and return from breaks & lunch as scheduled.
Punctuality and dependability are imperative.
- As needed, miscellaneous duties as assigned by the Supervisor
and other Management.QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job
successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential
duty satisfactorily. - The requirements listed below are
representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Must have the ability to understand our mail flow process. - Must
display excellent research and filing skills when needed. - Must
have a clear understanding of the business procedures within the
claims and customer service areas. - Good interpersonal and
decision making skills required. - Good written and oral
communication skills with the ability to speak effectively and
clearly in person and over the phone. - Must be organized and able
to manage time effectively with all claim information from or to
other departments. - Good PC application skills and typing to 30
wpm with accuracy and clarity of content. - Attention to detail and
ability to listen / type simultaneously. - Must be able to exhibit
flexibility in performing multiple functions. - Must have excellent
attendance and work ethic. - Team Centered. - Honesty and respect
for the company and its policies and procedures is required. -
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: - High school education, with
experience working in an office setting, preferably some experience
working on databases and Excel.Benefits:
