--Eckerd Connects Community Alternatives, C6Eckerd Connects' Community Alternatives is the community-based care lead agency for child welfare services in Pasco and Pinellas Counties and manages one of Florida's largest systems of care, serving about 3,100 children each day. --A Program of Eckerd Connects and governed by a community-based board, Eckerd Connects Community Alternatives has developed an integrated and collaborative system of care for safety, well-being and permanency of vulnerable and at risk children, while strengthening and supporting families. --In its role as lead agency or "system manager", provides: adoption support; child abuse prevention; child placement; contract and fiscal oversight; foster home management; performance and data management; resource development; and utilization management.Please follow the link for more information about this program: https://eckerd.org/family-children-services/foster-and-adoption/eckerd-community-alternatives-pasco-pinellas/--Position Concept--Foster Parent Trainer will deliver the National Training and Development Curriculum for Foster and Adoptive Caregivers (NTDC) or other approved pre-service curriculum. -- The Training Specialist is responsible for assessing, planning, coordinating, and facilitating training and learning activities to perspective foster parents. -- Primary duties will be to coordinate and/or facilitate training for foster parents and assigned facilities in the fulfillment of all contracted training requirements, functional/job related learning requirements, Eckerd required learning activities, and professional development learning activities.--Essential Functions

  • Review and prepare material prior to each training class to ensure there have been no changes to law or policy that may impact training. Research resources and materials that will allow for the enhancement of the training including networking with community resource representatives who may be available to provide training to our trainees. Arrange for the training room environment including set up and materials.
  • Participate in required train-the-trainer sessions and other trainings to enhance performance.--
  • Participate in individual and group meetings with the supervisor to provide feedback and receive new information. Meet with service and quality assurance personnel to identify training needs. Participate in staff conferences and curricula development to develop and improve training programs.
  • Provide orientation and direct training as required based on the modules developed for Pre-Service, PPT and In-Service training. Participate in the development and delivery of in-service training including any statewide mandatory training that may be required for the district or region. The trainer should be willing to cross train in needed areas to balance the training team when necessary. --The position requires production of Captivates (Audio/Video Recordings) for the Training Library. --Utilization of E- Learnings, Role Plays, iMeet, and Captivate videos are essential. --The ability to engage the trainees through icebreakers, openers, energizers and creative methods that facilitate learning. ----
  • Monitor class attendance and submission of required documentation and family profiles to the appropriate contact and/or Licensing/Adoption Specialist.
  • Provide testing and additional tutoring to assist trainees if they are having trouble understanding the material. This may include make-up sessions when it is necessary for staff to miss class.

  • Participate in required train-the-trainer sessions and other trainings to enhance performance.Position SpecificationsEducation:--Bachelor---s degree in human services or related field required.Experience:--Minimum--one--year of experience in child welfare required. Two years social service experience is preferred. Child Welfare Certification required from the Florida Certification Board.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: --Must have advanced Knowledge of child protection and preservation programs, principles and techniques of effective communication, principles of human behavior, learning and communication, Principles, methods and techniques of training and instruction. Understand and apply best practice standards to service delivery. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables with a minimum of direction. --Ability to work independently and use discretion and judgment consistently without immediate direction or supervision. Ability to write reports, correspondence, interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written or oral form, interpret and answer classroom participant questions. Ability to train individuals or groups of people and evaluate and analyze training data. Ability to prepare a variety of written training materials such as lesson plans, curricula, performance evaluations or reports. Ability to speak effectively before small and large groups, communicate effectively with staff and classroom participants, communicate in a way that supports learning. --Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. --Must have basic math skills and computer skills and experience and be able to learn.Other:--Maintain an appropriate and valid state driver---s license. Must meet state criminal background check requirements.Schedule:--Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and Saturdays.Travel:--Some travel may be required. --Must be able to meet requirements for Eckerd---s Auto Insurance and be able to drive for business purposes. Must maintain an appropriate and valid state driver---s license.Physical Demands:--The environment is an open office/classroom type facility that is reasonably clean and comfortable. --The incumbent is in a non-confined setting in which he/she is free to move about. --The position requires that the incumbent spend time writing, typing, speaking, listening, lifting (up to 25 pounds), carrying, seeing (such as close, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and adjusted focus), sitting, pulling, walking, standing, squatting, kneeling, and reaching.
